December 08, 2023

Four students have been selected to receive the USTA Future Leaders in Sport Scholarship, administered by the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU). These $5,000 scholarships were awarded to students working toward a degree in sports management and enrolled at a HACU-member institution.

The recipients are all full-time students at accredited four-year colleges and universities, and are in their junior or senior years, maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The students awarded the USTA Future Leaders in Sports Scholarship are:

● Dakota Berreth - Arizona State University

● Alondra Rayo Vergara  - Texas Woman's University

● Giovanni Baltazar-Hernandez - University of Nevada, Las Vegas

● Pablo Maldonado Cuellar  - Warner Pacific University

“We are proud of these four deserving students for their dedication to their studies and future careers,” said Marisa Grimes, USTA Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer. “We look forward to seeing them continue to excel and make a positive impact in school, in sports and beyond.”

HACU represents more than 500 colleges and universities in the United States, Latin America, Spain, and school districts throughout the United States. HACU is the only national association representing existing and emerging Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). Antonio R. Flores, HACU President and CEO, echoed Grimes’ words of pride and excitement.

“HACU congratulates the recipients of these scholarships who are pursuing the sports management profession,” Flores said. “This much needed financial assistance will play a significant role in them achieving their higher education goals, and we wish them success.”

The USTA Future Leaders in Sport Scholarship is part of the 2023-2024 HACU Scholarship Program.
