USTA Foundation joins forces with Frances Tiafoe to launch Frances Tiafoe Fund

In the wake of the announcement, USTA Foundation board president Kathleen Wu hailed Tiafoe as a “role model" for youth on and off the court, noting that he is representative of the transformative power that the USTA Foundation's work has done since its founding in 1994.

“He's not just a talented tennis player, he's also a dedicated philanthropist who is committed to giving back to his community,” Wu said. “The Frances Tiafoe Fund is a shining example of his commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. I’m so grateful to Frances for his work with the USTA Foundation, and I'm excited to see how the fund will continue to inspire and empower kids from all backgrounds.”

To celebrate the launch, many of Tiafoe’s brand partners pledged to support his efforts and intend to contribute to the fund. The USTA Foundation contributed a grant of $150,000 to the initial establishment of the fund, and Clif Bar, one of Tiafoe's partners, chipped in another $100,000. Harrison said that the fund will have the potential to affect "hundreds of thousands" of young lives by supporting NJTL services like additional tennis coaching, after-school tutoring and homework help. 

"We're thrilled to join forces with Frances Tiafoe and his family to create the Frances Tiafoe Fund," he said. "We're going to help build a child under Frances' vision."

"I want to tell all the young people who look up to me that it's about the person you are first, and athlete second," Tiafoe continued. "You want to be remembered for who you are, not what you've done. Thank you guys, and let's do something special with this thing."
