Turkey Trot-Off adult tournament stuffed with players, fun

More than 65 adults registered to compete in the USTA St. Louis Level 6 Turkey Trot-Off event on Sunday, Dec. 1, the weekend after Thanksgiving.

 

The adult one-day tournament took place at Vetta Sports - Concord, with USTA St. Louis Executive Director Megan Kovacs serving as tournament director. An open mixed doubles division was offered for advanced competitors, while 18 & Over mixed doubles NTRP combo 7.0 and 8.0 divisions were likewise available.

 

Additionally, 18 & Over divisions were offered for 4.0 women’s doubles, 3.5 men’s doubles and 4.0 men’s singles. Matches were best 2 of 3 short sets to 4 games with a 7-point tiebreaker in lieu of a third set.

 

Snacks were provided, and turkey trophies—dubbed as Golden Gobblers—were presented to champions.

Players from the USTA St. Louis and USTA Missouri districts participated, as did a trio of players from the USTA Midwest section.

 

The Turkey Trot-Off was not the only post-Thanksgiving USTA St. Louis tournament to occur during the weekend. A Level 6 Thanksgiving Challenge junior tourney took place at St Clair Tennis, with nearly 100 juniors registering to play. And a junior circuit event was held at Forest Lake Tennis Club, with more than 30 juniors participating.
