2019 Roland Garros Wild Card Challenge

One American man and one American woman will earn a singles main-draw wild card into 2019 Roland Garros by winning the Roland Garros Wild Card Challenge.
 
MEN

The USTA will award one men’s singles main-draw wild card into 2019 Roland Garros based on performance in any professional outdoor clay (Har-Tru or Red) ATP Challenger Tour-level events and above in the world over a four-week period. The wild card will be awarded to the American player with the highest total of cumulative ATP singles ranking points (both qualifying and main draw) from three of the following tournaments:

  • Week of April 8: Houston ATP Tour 250/Marrakech ATP Tour 250/Barletta ATP Challenger Tour 80/Murcia ATP Challenger Tour 80
  • Week of April 15: Monte Carlo ATP Tour Masters 1000/Anning ATP Challenger Tour 125/Sarasota ATP Challenger Tour 100/Tunis ATP Challenger Tour 80/San Luis Potosi ATP Challenger Tour 80
  • Week of April 22: Barcelona ATP Tour 500/Budapest ATP Tour 250/Tallahassee ATP Challenger Tour 80/Francavilla ATP Challenger Tour 80
  • Week of April 29: Estoril ATP Tour 250/Munich ATP Tour 250/Bordeaux ATP Challenger Tour 110/Savannah ATP Challenger Tour 80/Ostrava ATP Challenger Tour 80

WOMEN

 

The USTA will award one women’s singles main-draw wild card into 2019 Roland Garros based on performance in specific ITF World Tennis Tour and WTA Tour events. The wild card will be awarded to the American player who earns the highest total of cumulative WTA singles ranking points (both qualifying and main draw) at two of the following four events:

  • Week of April 15: ITF World Tennis Tour W80 Dothan, Ala.
  • Week of April 22: ITF World Tennis Tour W80 Charlottesville, Va./Istanbul WTA International
  • Week of April 29: ITF World Tennis Tour W100 Charleston, S.C./ITF World Tennis Tour W60 Wiesbaden, Germany/Prague WTA International/Rabat WTA International
  • Week of May 6: ITF World Tennis Tour W100 Bonita Springs, Fla./ITF World Tennis Tour W100 Cagnes-Sur-Mer, France/Madrid WTA Premier Mandatory

May 12 update:

Lauren Davis clinched the women's wild card on the final day of the challenge. Needing the title in at the USTA Pro Circuit and ITF World Tennis Tour W100 event in Bonita Springs, Fla., she defeated Ann Li in Sunday's championship match to overtake Whitney Osuigwe—a Bonita Springs semifinalist—for first place.

 

May 6 update:

Whitney Osuigwe remains in pole position for the women's wild card after her final run at the USTA Pro Circuit and ITF World Tennis Tour W100 event in Charleston, S.C., with Bernarda Pera and Lauren Davis also in contention. Osuigwe can clinch the wild card by winning the singles title at the W100 event in Bonita Springs, Fla., though she would also clinch with losses by Pera and Davis. Pera is playing the W80 event in Cagnes-sur-Mer, France, and must win the title there and have Osuigwe lose in Bonita Springs to earn the wild card. Davis is also playing in Bonita Springs and must win the title there and have Pera lose in France to finish atop the standings.

 

May 2 update:

Tommy Paul clinched the men's challenge with Tennys Sandgren's Round-of-16 loss at the ATP Challenger 80 event in Savannah Ga. The 2015 French Open boys' singles champion, Paul will now make his first main-draw senior appearance on the Paris red clay. 

 

April 29 update:

Whitney Osuigwe stormed to the top of the women's race with her title at the ITF World Tennis Tour W80 event in Charlottesville, Va.. In the men's challenge, Tommy Paul extended his lead with a run to the final of the ATP Challenger 80 event in Tallahassee, Fla. 

 

April 22 update:

Tommy Paul's title run at the Sarasota ATP Challenger 100 event vaulted him to the top of the men's standings, while Lauren Davis earned a Week 1 lead in the women's challenge via her performance as a finalist at the ITF World Tennis Tour W80 event in Dothan, Ala.

 

April 15 update:

Ryan Harrison's Round-of-16 showing at the Houston ATP Tour 250 event was enough to earn him 20 ATP ranking points and an early lead in the men's challenge. The women's challenge begins this week.
