USTA Team Challenge A FUN AND SOCIAL START TO COMPETITION

A USTA Team Challenge is your first step into tennis competition. USTA Team Challenges offer a low-pressure team environment for beginner players of all ages to develop their skills with others of similar experience.

There are a variety of options when it comes to Team Challenges. Events are offered for red ball, orange ball, and green ball so that you can find the best experience for your age and skill level.

FIND USTA TEAM CHALLENGES NEAR YOU

These events are not focused on winning and losing, instead focused on positive teamwork. This experience offers many benefits to learn the game of tennis in a fun and social environment, while also focusing on character and sportsmanship. 

Each event is approximately 60-90 minutes long. Players can sign up for a single-day-event or a series of up to 6 events.

When Should I Start Playing in a USTA Team Challenge?

Before playing in your first USTA Team Challenge and beginning your tennis competition journey, players are expected to know some of the basics like bouncing and hitting the ball over the net. Once at a Team Challenge, they will learn how to hit and return the ball to a partner.

What Will I Learn at a USTA Team Challenge?

By the end of a USTA Team Challenge, you will have worked on your tennis basics, like hitting and returning, supporting your teammates and making some friends along the way! 

What is the difference between a red, orange, or a green ball USTA Team Challenge?

Players should refer to their coach for assistance on which ball color they should register for. Generally speaking, red ball is recommended for players aged 5-7, orange ball is recommended for players aged 7-9, and green ball is recommended for players aged 9-11. 

USTA Team Challenge Counts Towards the Net Generation PlayTracker

For players ages 10 and under, they will receive PlayTracker points for every USTA Team Challenge event they participate in. Learn more about the PlayTracker here.
