NTRP National Championships: How to Qualify in Texas
The NTRP Nationals Championships are national adult tournaments that leverage the NTRP rating system as a way to create level-based competition at the 18 & Over, 40 & Over, and 55 & Over age groups. Each year, NTRP National Champions are crowned in men’s and women’s singles and doubles at the 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 levels in 18 & Over, 40 & Over, and 55 & Over age groups, as well as at the 5.0 level in the 18 & Over division. NEW DIVISIONS: National will be adding 18 & Over Mixed Doubles (3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0) and 2.5 divisions for 18 & Over Singles and Doubles.

REGISTRATION AND SELECTION
All players will be able to register for the NTRP National Championships. Player selection will be based on a player’s ranking in the National Standing List at the time of Selection. Selection for each division will be based on the last published National Standing List prior to the registration deadline. Texas has three guaranteed spots for each division, so the top three ranked Texas players who are registered, will be selected.
TEXAS QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Players must be USTA Texas residents to be selected as a Texas player.
Players must be in good standings with USTA and USTA Texas to be eligible for this event.
The last published NSL prior to the entry deadline will be used for selection of all Texas players. Texas has three quota spots for each division.
Players must have a valid NTRP (C, A, T, or D) at the time of entries closing. Players with a valid Mixed Exclusive (M) Rating may use this rating for Mixed Doubles only. Players with a Self (S) rating will not be accepted. If a player with a T or M rating is required to Self Rate to play in USTA League, these players may still register if their T or M rating was valid when they self rated.
Players may only participate at their current level as of the entry close date.
If a player is moved up and would have been selected at the lower level based on the last NSL prior to entries closing, then the player may participate at the higher level and this player will not count against a Section’s quota. Ex. A player has been bumped up from 4.0 to 4.5 on December 1, 2024. Their NSL ranking at the time of selection is #1, 2, or 3 for the USTA Texas Section. This player may be eligible to play in the 4.5 division of NTRP National Championships if they register for that event.
- For doubles the top combined NSL will be selected. For example, if Player A is ranked #1/Player B is Ranked #74 and Player C is ranked #5/Player D is ranked #10 then Player C/D will be selected first because their combined NSL ranking is 15 as opposed to Player A/B which has a combined NSL ranking of 75. For Mixed Doubles, the top combined NSL will also be listed using the NSL from the Men’s and Women’s Mixed Doubles lists.
Ranking qualifications
18+ - Players must be on the last National Standings List before entries close for the division (i.e. 18+ 3.5 Women’s Doubles, 40+ 4.0 Men’s Singles, etc) they are registering for in order to be selected.
40+/55+ - Players must be on the last National Standings List before entries close for the division they are registering for in order to be selected. If no registered players are listed on the respective NSL the player can be selected as long as the player is on the 18+ list for the 40+/55+ division (i.e. 18+ 3.5 Women’s Doubles, 18+ 4.0 Men’s Singles, etc) they are applying for.
- Players will be allowed to compete in singles, doubles and mixed doubles if they are qualified for all divisions. However, due to the fact that the 18+ singles, 40+ Singles and the 55+ singles are played on the same weekend at different locations, players will not be able to play both the 18+ singles, 40+ singles, and 50+ singles, even if qualified for multiple. Players will have the option of choosing which they would like to play. This also holds true for Doubles and Mixed. Therefore, players will be allowed to play in 18+ singles, 40+ singles, or 55+ singles AND 18+ doubles, 40+ doubles, or 55+ doubles, AND 18+ mixed doubles if qualified
- If other USTA Sections are unable to send their full quota of players, USTA Texas players may be awarded an alternate spot after registration has closed..
