New USTA Missouri Awards Chairperson Carol Rollins encourages nominations

Myia McAllister | June 27, 2024

Where talent meets triumph, the 2024 USTA Missouri Awards provide the opportunity to reflect and recognize all the amazing accomplishments of individuals and organizations in the district. From players, captains, coaches, coordinators and everyone in between, it takes a large group of dedicated individuals to help make USTA Missouri what it is today.

This year, USTA Missouri welcomes a new awards chairperson in Carol Rollins. She has assisted Ann Vogel for the past two years and is looking forward to the new role.

“I am so excited to be chairing the 2024 USTA award ceremony here in Springfield, Mo. for USTA Missouri,” Rollins said. “I have enjoyed being a part of this wonderful event to recognize outstanding individuals who either play, coach, captain or have made other significant contributions to our USTA community.”

Even though she has assisted the USTA Missouri Awards before, Rollins still has a lot she is hoping to learn. Going in with this mindset will certainly propel her to another successful award year.

“A lot of this is still new to me, but when Executive Director Leslie Echols asked me to be a part of this, I immediately said yes,” Rollins said.

A majority of the 2024 awards will be the same as last year, though there is talk about adding new categories.

“We are still contemplating all of the award categories and have not decided at this time if there will be any new ones,” Rollins said.

The deadline for nominations is Aug. 30. Visit the USTA Missouri Awards page for the link to nominate when it becomes available and to check out prior award recipients. Any questions can be directed to Carol Rollins at carol@rollinsappraisal.net.

“There will be posters distributed throughout the clubs and to coaches with a QR code on it—along with my contact information—making access to nominations readily available,” Rollins said. “Also, we will send out notifications to our USTA members.”

Voting will begin soon after Aug. 30, and winners will be announced in the fall. The results are highly anticipated, and the awards ceremony allows everyone to come together and acknowledge the achievements of the local tennis community.

“I look forward to a fun and successful event in November,” Rollins said. “What a great way to end the year—giving recognition to our local dedicated and committed members!”
