Coaches revealed for 2024 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic tennis teams
The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic tennis teams will be led by a quartet of coaches who know the honor of representing the red, white and blue abroad firsthand.
The USTA announced Monday that Bob Bryan and Kathy Rinaldi will lead the men’s and women’s Olympic teams in Paris this August, while Jon Rydberg and John Devorss will lead the Paralympic men, women, and quad teams. The Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to Aug. 11 and the Paralympic Games will take place from Aug. 28 to Sept. 8. The tennis events will take place at Roland Garros, where the year's second Grand Slam event is currently being played.
Bryan is making his debut as an Olympic coach. He was a two-time medalist as a player with his brother, Mike, earning bronze in Beijing in 2008 and gold in London in 2012.
Rinaldi is coaching her second Olympics, after leading Team USA at the Tokyo Games in 2021. She spent seven years as the U.S. Billie Jean King Cup captain, leading the U.S. to its most recent title in 2017.
Both Jon Rydberg and John Devorss are making their debuts as Paralympic coaches. Rydberg is a four-time Paralympian, while Devorss is a longtime U.S. World Team Cup coach. Both coached the U.S. teams at the 2023 Parapan American Games.
The World Team Cup is the wheelchair counterpart to the Billie Jean King Cup and Davis Cup.
The USTA will formally announce the athletes who have qualified for the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic tennis teams later this summer.
