HOW TO Prevent TENNIS BLISTERS

Elizabeth Chaffin & Dr. Alexis Colvin | January 01, 2017

These helpful tips will prevent blisters and keep your feet in top shape no matter how often you hit the court:

Avoid damp feet

Make sure your feet are dry before putting your socks and shoes on.

Use foot powder

Powder between your toes will decrease moisture in the skin and decrease the chance of blisters.

Check your socks

If you’re wearing two pairs of socks, put on the first pair inside out and the second pair rightside out to prevent blisters due to the nubby side of the sock. Change your socks frequently during the match to prevent moisture buildup.

Check your shoes

Make sure your shoes fit properly. Remember that the shoe should fit your foot; your foot should not fit the shoe.

Reduce friction

Place Vaseline on the outside of the inside sock to cut down on friction. You should also consider visiting a sports medicine therapist to get lacing techniques that will limit the slide in your shoes.
