In Unity, There is Strength

Peter Francesconi | April 15, 2020

These have been trying times for all of us in the tennis industry. Most clubs, facilities, retailers and programs are closed throughout the country, with no certainty when, or in some cases if, they’ll be able to open again. Many tennis providers and others in this industry are not working, and indeed, many have lost their jobs and rank among the millions filing for unemployment or applying for small business loans.

With the Covid-19 virus raging, the focus rightfully needs to be first on health, safety, family and immediate needs. But we also need to spend time looking at our industry and how we, as members of this tennis family, can both deal with the current situation while also preparing for the time when we’re back up and running.

This is where we need to look to our strengths, and to each other. For years, this industry has been challenged to work together for the good of this sport as a whole. Now, we must work together—for the survival of this sport and for all those in this industry.

This is what “Tennis Industry United” is all about. And this is what we hope this blog will do for this industry.

The plan for this Tennis Industry United Blog is to post daily about subjects important to you and your business. Our goal will be to line up experts in various fields so that you can benefit from their knowledge and information, everything from paycheck protection programs, to small business disaster relief, to keeping in touch with your players/members through this time, to preparing to reopen your facility or store, to how this industry might look post-coronavirus, and much more.

We’ll be reaching out to industry experts, consultants, facility owners & managers, tennis directors, teaching pros, park & rec specialists, journalists, etc. for their help in authoring content for this blog.

If you can help in this united effort to see our sport through this challenging time by providing information that we can share on this blog, please contact us.

This is an extraordinary time, and it requires an extraordinary response from all of us. Together, as a Tennis Industry United, we can get past this challenge and come back even stronger.
