Barbara Williams Service Award
PRESENTED DURING
The USTA Semiannual Meeting and Conference
HISTORY
Established in 2003 as the Barbara Williams Leadership Award, in honor of the memory of the late Barbara Williams, a longtime USTA volunteer who gave unselfishly of her time and energy to promote the sport of tennis. This award recognizes a female volunteer who through her leadership and by her example has encouraged and inspired others to become volunteers and assume leadership roles at the community, section and/or national levels of the USTA.
In 2014, this award was merged with the Service Bowl bringing together two awards which recognize female volunteers with the most esteemed service and leadership within the USTA.
ELIGIBILITY/CRITERIA
A female volunteer who meets the following criteria:
1. Nominee must be a female member of the USTA.
2. The nominee, through her volunteer service, must demonstrate leadership abilities and serve as a source of inspiration and encouragement to others to become volunteers and assume active leadership roles at the community, section and/or national levels of the USTA.
SELECTION PROCESS
Each USTA Section Association submits a nominee meeting the above criteria. The Awards Committee then selects the recipient from the submissions received from each UTSA Section Association.
