This program creates a pipeline of diverse and qualified professional tennis coaches and future tennis coaches. Individuals of all genders, backgrounds, and experiences are invited to apply.

This immersive, 12-week program trains aspiring coaches in all aspects of foundational coaching and leadership. You'll learn from the best in the industry, complete your Level 2 certification, and gain practical experience through:
- Mentoring by USTA staff members and subject matter experts
- Shadowing professionals at the USTA National Campus or Midtown Athletic Club in Chicago
- Developing coaching skills for all levels
- Leadership training in sports and non-profit management
- Networking with industry leaders
- Strength & conditioning and athlete development
- Partaking in coaching education and video analysis
- Observing juniors and wheelchair tennis
- Supporting Campus programming, events and retail/business
- Week 1: Orientation and Onboarding
- Week 2 & 3: Planning & Program Curriculum
- Weeks 4 & 5: Tactical & Technical Curriculum
- Weeks 6 & 7: Sports Science Curriculum
- Weeks 8 & 9: Teaching and Coaching & Teaching Skills Curriculum
- Weeks 10 & 11: Play & Competition Curriculum and Portfolio Assignments
- Week 12: Testing & Fellowship Presentations Due
*Fellows will be required to complete Level 1 course work before attending the Fellowship. Travel is included during one of the 12 training weeks.
WHO YOU ARE:
The Fellowship Program prioritizes recent college graduates who are eager to begin their professional tennis journey. However, anyone with a love for tennis and a commitment to coaching is welcome to apply.
Minimum of two (2) years of coaching experience
NTRP rating of 4.0 or higher
Committed to maintaining a high level of personal professionalism and fitness
Able to provide references upon request
Level 1 certified and a member in good standing by April 28, 2024
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of all Level 2 online courses and the USTA Teaching and Coaching Philosophy course before the start of the Fellowship
Safe Play Approval throughout the fellowship, which includes completing a criminal background screen, acknowledging the USTA Safe Play Policy, and completing SafeSport training
Housing and other expenses are not covered. The fellowship will provide a $12,000 stipend to help offset living costs.
